Litterary Takeaway

I came across this article recently and had to share: A Brief History of Book Vending Machines.

Sidenote: I want to visit Japan for many reasons, but a huge part of that is the vending machines. The Japanese put crazy stuff in their vending machines. (And those aren't even some of the weirder ones I've heard of, which include steak, porn, and used panties. Yes, you read that right. I have no idea if it's true or just a gross rumor.)

  1. I remember seeing an article not so long ago on the Biblio-mat. I love the idea!

As for the Japanese machines, I find the cultural reason for these to exist so fascinating. However I believe the used panties one is a myth

I'd love to visit Japan myself!

  2. Thanks for the link. Vending machines are fascinating and could be used for so much more here in the US. Problem is that the companies that place them do not keep them working reliably.

Japanese put all kinds of things in their vending machines, but Germans put beer in them.

I've heard Japan is a fascinating place to visit.
